What will you find in Castelo S. Jorge apartments?

Castelo S. Jorge apartments are divided into four types. On the entrance floor, with direct access from the street, you will find a studio, with an area of 25 m², which can accommodate up to two people; and a deluxe studio, with 38 m², where four guests can sleep. On the upper floors (from 1-4), there are the Superior studios, with an area of 25 m², for up to two people; and, finally, the T2 Deluxe apartments, with an area of 45 m², and capacity to comfortably accommodate up to five guests.

In these accommodations, you will find everything you need for a quiet and self-sufficient experience in the historic heart of Lisbon. In this way, you will have at your disposal a kitchenette with a hob, dishwasher, oven, fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, coffee machine and basic utensils for the preparation of light meals.

In addition, the Castelo S. Jorge apartments have parquet floors, a washing machine, a dining area, a safe, and a private bathroom with a shower, hairdryer and free toiletries. Castle of São Jorge: imposing address of History

Completely dominating the landscape of one of the hills of Lisbon, the Castle of São Jorge is one of the most iconic, important and ancient monuments in the city. The construction of its walls dates back to the 11th century, the oldest reference being in a document from the 12th century.

After the first king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques overcame the Moorish fence and conquered the city in 1147 the Castle of São Jorge experienced its heyday, as a space reserved for the royal court. However, from the 16th century onwards, the Crown moved to Terreiro do Paço (also known as Praça do Comércio) and the Castle began to serve a military function.

Over time, it gradually deteriorated. However, in 1940 it underwent a profound intervention of requalification and returned to gain the stature that we know today. So, strolling there is an experience that you cannot go without!

A visit to the Castle

With a medieval aesthetic, the Castle of São Jorge presents its visitors with an authentic journey through time. At the entrance, you will find a bronze statue of D. Afonso Henriques, immortalized in history as “The Conqueror”. Between walls and towers, you will also have the opportunity to explore an obscure chamber that will allow you to observe, in real-time and in 360º, the city of Lisbon.

Finally, you must stroll through the gardens of the Castle, in the shade of the main indigenous species of the Portuguese forest, such as the cork oak, stone pine or fruit trees. The elevated position of this grandiose monument offers the best view of the city, according to the opinion of many ‘Lisboners’. Come and contemplate the unique beauty of this place full of history.

A walk through Lisbon’s tradition

The pages of the country’s history books are starred by some special figures, whose life and work mark the identity of an entire people. Well, very close to the Castelo S. Jorge apartments, you will find the last address of some of the most illustrious Portuguese people of all times. We speak, of course, about the National Pantheon.

This Italian-inspired Baroque monument, whose construction began in the 16th century, houses the graves of central personalities in the History of Portugal. We refer, for example, to names like Luís de Camões, one of the greatest national poets; Vasco da Gama, who discovered the sea route to India; or Amália Rodrigues, the greatest fado singer of all time.

Right next door, in Santa Clara, you will find the most famous of the metropolis’ street markets: Feira da Ladra. Held on Saturdays and Tuesdays, this is the ideal place to find second-hand antiques and objects. But the range of essential places to visit does not stop there.

Take time to explore the multicultural richness of Praça Martim Moniz, where you can find shops, restaurants, cafes and kiosks with inspiration from countries in the four corners of the planet. Then, you can take advantage of the proximity of Downtown Pombalina and Chiado to take some pictures or shop in its iconic streets.

All our apartments have service and help-desk open 24/7. Our buildings have a team that is present in the building 365 days a year, who in addition to the daily maintenance of your apartment will be available to help you (these services are included in the daily rate).



The apartments are fully furnished with bed and bath linen, as well as appliances and kitchen utensils. All apartments benefit from a daily cleaning service that includes the change of bed and bath linen after 3 nights, or when necessary. The daily cleaning service does not include cleaning the kitchen, washing the dishes or treating clothes. If the kitchen needs to be cleaned, this service will be charged for an additional cost of € 25.00 /day. We have an optional laundry service.



The apartments are equipped with all the amenities for a pleasant stay. Everything is strictly inventoried. Nothing may be removed from the apartment. Any missing or damaged items will be charged to the client at market price plus a fee of € 30.00/item to cover replacement costs.

The apartments have dozens of cable channels (varies depending on location). If your apartment has a box, you must tune the HDMI on the TV and then turn on the receiver and choose the desired channel. If your apartment does not have a box, just choose the channels using your own command.



In addition to traditional commerce, there are always supermarkets very close to the buildings. It is also possible to get a home delivery service by choosing from a menu from an endless list of restaurants. Optionally, you can also request purchases for your stay, even being possible to have all your purchases done when you arrive at the apartment!

Check-in is done from 14:00h, and Check-out must be until 12:00h. During the booking period, you can enter the apartment at any time. Arrivals before 14:00 (‘early check-in’), or departures after 12:00 (‘late checkout’), are possible subject to availability at an additional cost of 40% on the published daily rate for the apartment.



The building has several Wi-Fi hotspots. Access is free. The access code can be found at the entrance to the apartment.



On-street parking is normally paid for and is usually secure. However, we suggest the usual care in this type of situation. Please be advised that certain areas have parking meters and are for limited duration parking. Check the map for the nearest covered car parks



All our apartments are non-smoking. If you do not comply with the smoking ban, a €100.00 cleaning and odor removal fee will be charged.

Martim Moniz station is a 5-minute walk from your apartment. Just a few minutes ride will take you to any point in the city, in comfort and without the usual delays of traffic.

The Sintra railway is also close to the apartment and you can enjoy a trip to one of the most beautiful Portuguese towns. A fast and reliable train service runs alongside the River Tagus towards the Atlantic Ocean and in minutes, you will be on your way out of the city to enjoy Cascais and its, beaches, again taking a comfortable journey without the hassle of coping with road traffic.
