When we step on the Portuguese sidewalk that runs through Chiado, we are never alone. This floor still keeps the memory of the steps of emblematic figures from Portuguese culture. It was in this creative and cosmopolitan atmosphere that iconic Portuguese writers, such as Eça de Queirós, Fernando Pessoa or José Saramago, strolled and got inspired. And it is in this atmosphere that you will find the Chiado Emenda apartments, the perfect accommodation to calmly dive into the magic of this area.
This modern building, located in a quiet street, is prepared to provide you with a stay full of elegance, culture and comfort. Come and be inspired by the most refined atmosphere in Lisbon!
The Chiado Emenda apartments have the door facing one of the most privileged locations in the city of Lisbon. In the heart of Chiado, between Bairro Alto and Downtown Lisbon, we are in the place where culture comes to life; and where the flow of shops, theatres, bookstores, cafes, and the trendiest restaurants doesn’t stop.
This fully rehabilitated building allows you to enjoy all the comfort of the tourist and artistic heritage of this very special neighbourhood. Thus, you will find in the Chiado Emenda apartments a functional decoration, but, in line with the surrounding area, full of charming and refined details. The accommodation is also serviced by an elevator, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, television, daily cleaning services, and an access code system, which, together with automatic check-in, will give you full autonomy.
The Chiado Emenda apartments, from Lisbon Serviced Apartments, await your visit. Come and live the magic of the most creative and lively atmosphere in the city of Lisbon!
What will you find in the Chiado Emenda apartments?
Spread over four floors, the 28 Chiado Emenda apartments, from Lisbon Serviced Apartments, are divided into three types: studios, 22 m², for two people; deluxe studios, with a larger area, 40 m², which can accommodate up to three guests; and T1 Duplex apartments, with an area of 65 m² for four people.
These accommodations on Rua da Renda have been carefully designed so that you can enjoy your stay with comfort and autonomy. In this way, you have at your disposal a kitchenette with a hob, dishwasher, washing machine, oven, fridge, kettle, toaster, coffee machine and basic utensils for the preparation of light meals. Likewise, the bathroom (two, in the case of T1 Duplex apartments) has a shower, hairdryer and free toiletries. If you need to store your luggage outside of your stay-time, you can use our lockers located on the stairs of the building.
Chiado: a meeting with inspiration
Chiado has long been one of the most attractive places for Lisbon intellectuals. Many of the cafes that fill the neighbourhood with life have served as the stage for artistic gatherings that have become famous throughout the metropolis. Some of the protagonists of these debates were immortalized in these streets. The most notable example is that of Fernando Pessoa.
We speak of one of the most photographed bronze figures in the country: the sculpture of the poet, by Lagoa Henriques, who is at the door of the mythical cafe A Brasileira. Here, you can sit at one of the tables and ask for a “bica” where, in the 1920s, the author of Mensagem used to spend part of his day. It is certainly a journey through time!
But the encounter with art and culture does not stop there. Walking along the beautiful Rua Garrett, which ends in the cosmopolitan Armazéns do Chiado, you must enter Bertrand, considered by Guinness World Records to be the oldest bookstore in the world still in operation. This space opened its doors in 1732 and continues to be a must-visit place, especially for book lovers, and for the curious who want to feel the rooms and corridors of this page of history which makes the city proud.
At the door of culture
In the vicinity of the Chiado Emenda apartments, there are many cultural spaces where you can learn, laugh and dream. This is the case with the renowned National Museum of Contemporary Art, created in 1911 with the mission of exhibiting the most avant-garde art. There, you will find works created between the second half of the 19th century and today.
But there are more suggestions for those who like to surround themselves with art. In the heart of Chiado lives the São Luís Theatre, open to the public since 1894; it is one of the biggest centres for Lisbon’s cultural life. Likewise, this area serves as the address of the São Carlos Theatre. Inaugurated in 1793, this remains the only national theatre dedicated to the representation of opera.
From your accommodation, it will be easy to stroll through very popular areas of the city. Visit Bairro Alto, known for its lively nightlife; Príncipe Real, a very cosmopolitan and lively neighbourhood; or the area that lies next to the Tagus River, perfect for relaxing and inspiration. Therefore, conditions are made for an unforgettable experience!
