While still keeping the features of the 1940s architecture, the building has been completely renovated to provide the necessary amenities for a comfortable and autonomous experience. Among the 20 Príncipe Real apartments, some of them with a privileged view of the city, you can choose from: the 37 m² studio, which can accommodate up to three people; the T1 apartments, with an area of 47 m² or 55 m² (in the case of Deluxe), able to receive up to four guests; and, finally, the T2, 90 m², where up to five people can stay.

What will you find in the Príncipe Real apartments?
The building, very close to some of the most trendy and cosmopolitan areas of the city, such as Avenida da Liberdade, Chiado or Bairro Alto, will offer you everything you need for a memorable stay. We have an elevator, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, daily cleaning services and an access code system, so you can enjoy all the independence in your accommodation.
For fully autonomous meals, the Príncipe Real apartments have a kitchenette equipped with a dishwasher, hob, fridge, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee machine and all basic utensils. In addition, you have a flat-screen TV, washing machine and private bathroom (two in the case of T2) with a shower, hairdryer and free toiletries. If you need to store your luggage outside of your stay-time, you can use our lockers located on the 2ndfloor of the building.
Finally, to provide you with all the comfort, it is important to mention that maintenance cleaning is daily, as well as the supply of bathroom consumables. A cool neighbourhood is a neighbourhood with a ‘world’ in it
In 2018, Time Out magazine considered Príncipe Real the fifth coolest neighbourhood in the world. According to the publication, which compiled a list of 50 locations spread across the globe, in this charming neighbourhood, “some of the best restaurants, shops, gardens or markets come together”.
In a short walk down the Rua da Escola Politécnica, for example, it is easy to see that this was the address chosen by a large number of stores with bold identities, avant-garde brands or restaurants with flavours that transport us to all corners of the globe. With great doses of grace, the world is right here.
A historical tour of Príncipe Real
When we talk about Príncipe Real, we are referring to King D. Pedro V, son of the remarkable Queen D. Maria II. Born in 1837, this monarch, who died at the age of 24, became known in history with some suggestive names: “the Saint”, “the Hopeful” or “the Beloved”.
Given his premature disappearance, this king had little time to govern the destinies of the country. Still, he continues to be remembered for the high moral standards that guided his performance as heir to the crown. Some say that his kindness and passion remain in the romantic garden baptized in his honour.
We speak, of course, about the Jardim do Príncipe Real, built in the middle of the 19th century. In this green, flowery and peaceful space, you can find a playground, kiosks with terraces, a small outdoor market with organic products (on the last Saturday and Monday of each month), a pond with a fountain, and even a tree classified as being of public interest – a huge cedar-of-Buçaco more than 20 meters in diameter.
Must-see places in the Príncipe Real area
The dynamism of this area is visible on the first visit. Among the nineteenth-century mansions and palaces that dot the neighbourhood, you will find several must-see places during your stay at Príncipe Real apartments.
A clear example of this is the renowned National Museum of Natural History and Science. The institution’s mission is to promote curiosity and public understanding of nature and science. Here, you should take the time to discover the Botanical Garden. This extensive natural retreat, founded in 1878, hides a portrait of the flora from various parts of the world; also hosting a butterfly garden that will impress both kids and adults alike.
São Pedro de Alcântara viewpoint: let your eyes breathe
Take some time to go for a walk, or go shopping, on the busy streets of Chiado. Then, on the way to Príncipe Real, take a break at the São Pedro de Alcântara viewpoint. In this mandatory stop for those visiting Lisbon, you will find a pleasant garden, full of statues of heroes and gods from Greco-Roman mythology, such as Minerva and Ulysses.
The ex-libris of this place is, of course, the wide view it offers to the city. From here, it is possible to appreciate the Castle of São Jorge, the houses of the Alfama or Downtown neighbourhood, the magnificence of the Sé Catedral, the modernity of the avenues or the calmness of the Tagus River. All our apartments have service and help-desk open 24/7. Our buildings have a team that is present in the building 365 days a year, who in addition to the daily maintenance of your apartment will be available to help you (these services are included in the daily rate).
The apartments are fully furnished with bed and bath linen, as well as appliances and kitchen utensils. All apartments benefit from a daily cleaning service that includes the change of bed and bath linen after 3 nights, or when necessary. The daily cleaning service does not include cleaning the kitchen, washing the dishes or treating clothes. If the kitchen needs to be cleaned, this service will be charged for an additional cost of € 25.00 /day. We have an optional laundry service.
The apartments are equipped with all the amenities for a pleasant stay. Everything is strictly inventoried. Nothing may be removed from the apartment. Any missing or damaged items will be charged to the client at market price plus a fee of € 30.00/item to cover replacement costs.
The apartments have dozens of cable channels (varies depending on location). If your apartment has a box, you must tune the HDMI on the TV and then turn on the receiver and choose the desired channel. If your apartment does not have a box, just choose the channels using your own command.
In addition to traditional commerce, there are always supermarkets very close to the buildings. It is also possible to get a home delivery service by choosing from a menu from an endless list of restaurants. Optionally, you can also request purchases for your stay, even being possible to have all your purchases done when you arrive at the apartment!
Check-in & Check-out
Check-in is done from 14:00h, and Check-out must be until 12:00h. During the booking period, you can enter the apartment at any time. Arrivals before 14:00 (‘early check-in’), or departures after 12:00 (‘late checkout’), are possible subject to availability at an additional cost of 40% on the published daily rate for the apartment.
The building has several Wi-Fi hotspots. Access is free. The access code can be found at the entrance to the apartment.
On-street parking is normally paid for and is usually secure. However, we suggest the usual care in this type of situation. Please be advised that certain areas have parking meters and are for limited duration parking. Check the map for the nearest covered car parks
All our apartments are non-smoking. If you do not comply with the smoking ban, a €100.00 cleaning and odor removal fee will be charged.
The nearest subway station is “Restauradores”. Cais do Sodré and Rossio stations are also nearby.
The Lisbon Serviced Apartments are located just 300 metres from Caís do Sodré Station, a public transport hub, with links to many destinations, both within and outside the city of Lisbon.
The days of relying on Caravels (Portuguese two-masted boats) to carry you from one bank of the river to the other have long since gone. Today you can take modern ferry boats (“cacilheiros”). Trains take you to other parts of the country, while the subway, or metro as it is known locally, takes you around the city of Lisbon. There are also street cars, buses and other public transport links at Caís do Sodré station.
Cais do Sodré station is a 2-minute walk from your apartment. Just a few minutes ride will take you to any point in the city, in comfort and without the usual delays of traffic.
The Sintra railway is also close to the apartment and you can enjoy a trip to one of the most beautiful Portuguese towns. A fast and reliable train service runs alongside the River Tagus towards the Atlantic Ocean and in minutes, you will be on your way out of the city to enjoy Cascais and its, beaches, again taking a comfortable journey without the hassle of coping with road traffic.
